One of the first places on our list is Colorado Springs, located in the Pikes Peak Rocky Mountains. It was the perfect place for a long weekend getaway, so we’ve documented the best of it. Made in Colorado Springs!
Colorado Springs, also known as The Springs, is located midway between Denver and Pueblo on Interstate 25. It sits at an elevation of over 6,000 feet.
After talking to the locals, we found out that there wasn’t much snow in Colorado Springs, which we were really surprised to learn. It’s also one of the sunniest cities in the state, perfect if you’re visiting Colorado and want a cool, snow-free climate.
Springs is known as the US Olympic City because it is home to the US Olympic Committee, one of the largest Olympic training centers in the country, as well as USA Hockey and more than 50 national sports organizations.

You will find that there are many military forces (Army and Air Force) where almost a quarter of the population is serving in the military, civilians and their families. Colorado Springs, near El Paso County, is also home to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

Fun Things To Do In Colorado Springs At Night (for 2023)
Spread over 200 hectares, there are 18 golf courses, dozens of tennis courts, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a gym, a spa and a “wellness zone”. You can explore 35 acres of trails and lakes where you can swim, kayak, canoe, or paddle board.
I really like this resort because there are so many activities for the guests. Whether you want to go hiking, boating, exercise, yoga or crossfit, play tennis or relax in the pool, it’s there. There is no shortage of fitness opportunities here.
We found the site to be well organized and we were lucky enough to have a great view of the mountains.

The Garden of the Gods is a public park, a national landmark, and a top attraction in the area, and once you see it, you’ll know why. Beautiful green hills are matched with red rocks that seem to be nowhere. It’s a place to explore and there are many ways to do it.
You can take advantage of the 15-kilometer walking path from the concrete road to the full circle crossing the red rocks where the famous Garden of the Gods is. The park offers a free guided tour every day. (Visit the Visitor Center.) Biking enthusiasts can enjoy paved, one-way lanes with additional road closures for added adventure.
Climbers flock to Mecca, which offers climbing for all levels. Guests wishing to climb Red Mountain must have appropriate equipment and a free (free) mountaineering permit. Front Range Climbing Company, on the other hand, offers half- and full-day private climbing tours for 1-4 people, suitable for all skill levels.
For the non-adventurous, a fun way to get around the park is on a Segway. A 90- to 120-minute guided tour is offered daily (note: buggy and jeep tours are also available, or you can drive through the park and explore on your own).

Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center The Nature Center is more than a hole in the wall. In fact, it is a world-class museum with state-of-the-art technology, interactive exhibits and displays celebrating the geography, ecology and cultural history of the region. Perfect for all age groups.
If you want the best photography, it will reach sunrise or sunset. We arrived about 30 minutes before sunset and the lights were hitting the red rocks making them more vibrant. We immediately parked and walked down the street to explore God’s Garden and take some amazing photos!
As you drive through the Garden of the Gods, there are several parking lots and seating areas where you can stop and take pictures or park your car. There are many beautiful views throughout the park, so be sure to plan to avoid too much sunlight.

Fun Things To Do In Colorado Springs In The Winter
This 14,115-foot peak in the pike forest is the most visited peak in North America, attracting more than 500,000 visitors annually. Located in the Rocky Mountains above Colorado Springs, this is definitely a place worth exploring.
There are actually 4 ways to see and explore Pike’s Peak: walking, biking, or riding the Pikes Peak Cog Railway (closed in winter).
It was a long way to the top. In fact, the Barr Trail is a 13.5-mile distance with 7,510 feet of vertical gain along the route, a 27-mile round trip. Definitely not for the faint of heart. If you’re traveling to Phnom Penh, you’ll need to get up early to get started. You don’t want to be at the top after a few hours of posting, it will cost you a penny. Save and come back.
Whether you choose to walk all or part of the route, be sure to pack the essentials. Plenty of water, food and thick clothes (temperatures can drop more than 30 degrees from the bottom to the top) as well as rain gear (afternoon showers are often surprising).

If you want to explore on two wheels, you have two options. You can bike up (and then down) the Pikes Peak Highway or the Challenge Unlimited Bike Tour (closed in the winter and reopening in the spring). This route will take you to the top by bus in the morning and you can get off for your trip. Tours include hot air gear, helmets and lunch at Colorado wineries.
The Pikes Peak Highway is 19 miles to the top of the hill. You’ll pass three lakes, dining areas, the historic Glen Cove Inn and the North Resort. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day exploring this amazing mountain.
In 1891 built the world’s highest railway takes you to Pike’s Peak in style. The 3.5-hour hike allows you to see aspen waterfalls, snow-capped mountains and admire spectacular views. Advance booking is recommended.

Manitou Springs is a mountain resort community just outside the Colorado Springs border. Its name is a combination of the Native American words for “great spirit” and the eight coal springs located in the town (and believed to have healing properties). In addition to being the starting point of the aforementioned Pikes Peak Cog Railroad, the city supports a vibrant craft community, and the historic district is home to galleries, independent and unique shops, and a variety of restaurants.
For outdoor adventures, you can explore the Manitou Incline Trail, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, go goldfishing or fishing, river rafting, mountain biking, or horseback riding.
The famous Manitou Inclined Trail is only a mile long, but it beats it.
