What To Do In Reno This Weekend – Halloween and fall weather are coming. Reno climbs in to find pumpkins, drunken zombies, and the familiar scoundrels of the occasion.
In that spirit, we’ve scoured horror Facebook pages and combed through gimmicky event calendars to come up with a list of four fun and relatively inexpensive things to do this weekend.
What To Do In Reno This Weekend
After being canceled last year due to COVID-19, the Zombie Crawl returns to downtown Reno for a night of booze and fun. Attendees can get a tracking mug and event map for $10. The glasses act as a ticket to the event, giving attendees access to 31 bar stands along the rock-climbing wall. They can be purchased here.

Organizers recommend that attendees start the evening at the Sands Regency at 345 North Arlington Ave., where free parking is also available.
Reno Urban Roots, a nonprofit dedicated to changing the way communities eat and learn through garden education, hosts the Haunted Hoops Fall Festival. Activities include a variety of arts and crafts stations, a haunted house tour and a family-friendly horror show. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume.
The annual PumpkinPalooza draws 25,000 people to Victorian Sparks Square for family-friendly fun. Named one of Food Network Magazine’s Top 10 Fall Events, PumpkinPalooza features free and affordable events for all ages, including Nevada’s only pumpkin derby, more than 20 carnival-style indoor games, pumpkin decorating, food and more.
There is no better way to prepare for the apocalypse. Crossroads of the West, one of the busiest gun shows in the US, stops in Reno this weekend and brings hundreds of tables of items for all skill levels and interests.

With more than 200 cars from the 19th and 20th centuries on display, along with exhibits on their history and use, it’s the perfect place for a morning visit.
Now the museum divides the automobile exhibition into four galleries. One of these divisions houses the Off-Road Motor Sports Hall of Fame and several other race cars.

Located about 20 miles from downtown Reno, Mount Rose Ski Resort offers breathtaking scenery and exhilarating slopes for a day on the slopes.
Now Mountain Rose is considered one of the highest ski resorts in the Tahoe area. All this creates ideal conditions for skiing.
One thing to consider is the number of people visiting. During high season, the number of guests increases and the complex gets quite crowded. If you want to avoid the crowds, skip the weekend.
How Does A Weekend In Reno Compare To A Weekend In Las Vegas? • Vegas Bright
The Truckee River District is one of Reno’s busiest areas and a great place to walk. Located on the banks of the Truckee River, it’s a great place to stroll (especially in the afternoon).
You know you can easily get to the bars and cafes before exploring the area’s art galleries, museums and theaters.
One of the park’s highlights are the two original ranch houses that remain on the property. But that’s not all that’s going on in the park. You can easily join the relatively easy Evans Canyon Trail or the Wilbur D. The May Center can be visited which is great if you want to explore their collections and botanical garden.
Also, if you visit in September, be sure to check out the Great Reno Balloon Race held in the park. This is one of the best things to do in Reno and is one of the largest balloon festivals in the world.
Top Must Try Restaurants In Reno, Nevada
Along the Truckee River lies another of Nevada’s recreational gems. Idlewild Park is a 50 acre park that has been around for over 100 years.
Much quieter than downtown Reno, it’s a worthwhile place to visit for a more relaxed day in the city.
If that’s not your thing, head over to the Reno Aces Ballpark and play! Home of the Reno Aces, this is a great way to get a taste of baseball.

City Of Reno
When the National Bowling Stadium was established in 1995, it was created from the Taj Mahal of Tenpin. It is a huge bowling stadium with more than 70 lanes and is quite attractive to visit.
The stadium is also home to the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame, where you can see the history of Reno bowling.
The Reno Air Races are a weekly air racing event in northern Nevada. This makes the site of the former Stade Air Force Base a busy place every September and usually after the Balloon Festival.
It is one of the most anticipated occasions in the city as hundreds of pilots and crews bring their planes to participate in six hair-raising races.
Memorial Weekend Events In Reno Tahoe
Not only that, there are lots of air shows and many civil and military air shows that are great to watch.
Pyramid Lake in the Truckee River Basin is another great viewpoint in Reno. In fact, we visited here before going to Burning Man and we loved it.
Now the lake takes its name from the cone-shaped pyramid formations of limestone tuff rocks that rise above its calm, dark waters. Nice to see.
At just over 6 miles long, the Hunter Creek Trail is one of the best things to do in Reno when you want to get out of downtown.
Heavy Rain, Wind, Snow Blows Through California Into Sierra
If you’re an avid hiker, this trail will be a piece of cake, but for someone new to hiking, you’ll probably find it a moderately paced hike. Either way, it’s a beautiful trail and you’ll even see a waterfall.
Keep in mind that like most popular places in Reno, it can get busy. If you want a quieter hike, avoid weekends and early afternoon.
Reno may not be as glitzy or on the same scale as Las Vegas, but it still has several casinos that are an institution in the city.
Stroll through Circus-Circus, visit Peppermill Resort Casino and visit Silver Legacy Resort. All of them are quite spacious and you can spend hours inside.

Oh, and don’t forget to check out the world’s largest little city that graces the street in downtown Reno.
As with all gambling, set a budget before you enter. Don’t get over it and remember that these casinos don’t build themselves…the house usually wins!
About a 30-minute drive from Reno when driving south to Carson City, Washoe Lake is well worth a visit.
Here you can explore the completely untouched Washoe Lake State Park and take a boat ride on the lake.
