For a fee of just $10 for adults and $5 for kids, you’ll have the chance to explore a 15-acre railroad yard with more than 100 locomotives, boxcars, and passenger cars while learning about Colorado’s railroad history.
And on certain days of the week you can also take a 15-minute train ride through the garden for a small extra charge. I was absolutely impressed with the number of trains on display and it was interesting to learn more about them.

The Lookout Mountain Nature Center is next to the Boettcher Mansion. The nature center is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, so unfortunately the days are not the same as the Boettcher Mansion.

It connects to downtown and continues west to Tunnel 1 of US 6. It offers great views on a nice paved path along the river.
The Lariat Loop Scenic Drive is a winding 40-mile stretch that takes you through Golden, Morrison, and Evergreen with historic and scenic sites along the way. You can also drive through the Gold section as there are 8 stops along the way, including the Buffalo Bill Museum, Boettcher Mansion, Lookout Mountain Nature, and Mother Cabrini Sanctuary.
It takes about 20 minutes to get from downtown Golden to the top of Lookout Mountain. The climb is very windy but offers great views of the city on a 2 lane road up the mountain.
