One of the first places on our list is Colorado Springs, high in the Rocks below Pikes Peak. It’s the perfect place for a long weekend getaway, so we’ve rounded up some of the best things to do in Colorado Springs!

Colorado Springs, also known as “The Springs,” is located in the middle of the state, halfway between Denver and Pueblo on Interstate 25. It sits at an elevation of just 6,000 feet.

After talking to some locals, we discovered that Colorado Springs doesn’t get much snow, which surprised us very much. It’s also one of the sunniest cities in the state, which is great if you’re visiting Colorado and want to enjoy a snow-free winter.

The Springs is also known as the Olympic City of the United States because it is the headquarters of the United States Olympic Committee and is one of the main centers of Olympic training in this country, as well as the United States Hockey and more. 50 national sports organizations.

There is a large portion of the military (Army and Air Force) and almost a quarter of the population active in the military, the army in general, and their families. Colorado Springs and nearby El Paso County are also home to North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

During our time in Colorado Springs, we called Cheyenne Mountain Resort our home base. No matter what time of year you visit the area, this place is a great place to lay your head and explore all it has to offer.

More than 200 acres include an 18-hole golf course, more than a dozen tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, spa and wellness center. You can explore the 35-acre lake and trails where you can swim, paddle, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard.

I like this place because there are many activities for its guests. If you want to swim, hike, paddleboard, work out, do yoga or cross-training, play tennis or just relax by the pool, it’s there. There’s no shortage of exercise opportunities here.

We found the guest rooms to be perfect and were lucky enough to have a really great view of the mountains.

While there aren’t enough exciting things to do in Colorado Springs for a weekend or more, you should choose a little more carefully than you’ll do in the long run. So we’ve done the job for you and narrowed it down to some gems to discover when you visit Colorado Springs.

Of Colorado’s Most Beautiful Places

The Garden of the Gods is a public park, a national natural monument, and the most famous in the region, and once you see it, you’ll know why. The beautiful rolling green mountains are located next to the red cliffs that seem to come from nowhere. This is a place to explore and there are many ways to do it.

You can use 15 miles of hiking trails, from the concrete paths to the winding loops that wind through the red rocks that make the Garden of the Gods so famous. The park also offers free guided tours each day. (Register at the Visitor Center.) Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy paved bike trails that run all the same, with additional off-road trails for many people are humble.

Climbers flock to this Mecca, which offers climbing services for all skill levels. Visitors wishing to face the towering red rock faces must be properly equipped and require a climbing permit (free of charge). Alternatively, Front Range Climbing Company offers half- and full-day climbing tours for 1-4 people, depending on any skill level.

If you want to take the best pictures, come at sunrise or sunset. We arrived about 30 minutes before sunset and the light hitting the red rocks made them even more brilliant. We quickly parked and headed down the road to explore the Garden of the Gods and take some great photos!

As you drive to the Garden of the Gods, there are plenty of parking lots and lots for you to stop and take pictures or park your car for your hike. . There are many beautiful sights in the park, so make sure you plan well so you don’t miss a day.

This 14,115-foot peak in the Pike National Forest is the most visited peak in North America, attracting more than 500,000 visitors each year. Located above Colorado Springs in the Rocky Mountains, this is definitely a place worth checking out.

The tour will pick you up in the morning by van, where you can drive at your leisure. The tour includes summer activities, hats, and lunch at a Colorado winery.

Drive 12 miles along the Pikes Peak Expressway to reach the summit. You’ll pass three lakes, a picnic area, the historic Glen Cove Inn, and the North Slope Recreation Area. Book a vacation rental and spend the day exploring this beautiful mountain.

Manitou Springs is a mountain community just outside the border of Colorado Springs. Its name is a combination of the Native American word for “great spirit” and the eight fountains located in the town (with healing properties). In addition to being the starting point for the aforementioned Pikes Peak Cog Railroad, the town also has a thriving arts community and the Historic District is home to libraries, independent and specialty shops as well as many restaurant.
