A few weeks ago, Kevin and I spent the weekend in Philadelphia to celebrate our anniversary. We really enjoyed this fun city. Philadelphia is beautiful. There is so much beauty and history here. Feel like you are traveling back in time or taking a cruise across the ocean in a romantic European city with historic buildings, monuments and streets.

Where can you walk down America’s oldest street? It’s great for kids to learn about our nation’s history and our founding fathers.
Best Things To Do In Philadelphia 2023
If you’re wondering what to do in Philadelphia, we’ve researched the most popular Philadelphia activities and compiled them into this list. Some of the best things to do in Philadelphia:
Entry to the Liberty Bell is free and opens daily at 9am. Tickets are not required. Arrive at 9am or a few minutes earlier so you can be the first to see the Liberty Bell without the crowds and lines.
Next to the Liberty Bell is Independence Hall, where the Liberty Bell hung and where Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock and others wrote the Declaration of Independence.
Entry to the National Museum is free, but tickets are required. Free tickets are available at the Independence Visitor Center near the Liberty Bell. The Visitor Center opens daily at 8:30am. Visit the Liberty Bell and purchase tickets before or after going to Independence Hall.
Unmissable Things To Do In Philadelphia At Night
The Statue of Love has been a symbol of Philadelphia since its installation in 1976 in Philadelphia’s Love Park. Joining in front of the “Love Sign” is one of Philadelphia’s most important activities.
If you’re a rock fan, you’ll love this experience! Rocky Balboa climbed his now-famous stone steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (also known as the “Rocky Steps”).
This is the view from above! At the bottom of the stairs to the right is a Rocky statue. Running the Stone Steps is on Kevin’s ‘Things to Do in Philadelphia’ list!!
Philadelphia City Hall is the largest city hall in the United States. It is near the Love Sculpture and Reading Terminal Market. There are towers and lookouts inside, but it’s worth the walk if you don’t want to go inside.
Top Spring Activities In Philadelphia
The Betsy Ross House is a Philadelphia landmark where seamstress and flag maker Betsy Ross lived when she sewed the first American flag.
It was originally designed to be walked down the street to see the outside, for a small fee you can go inside and see what the building looked like in the 1700s. It’s great to see the interior. Lots of tiny stairs!
If you’re looking for things to do in Philadelphia, I highly recommend walking down this cobblestone street.
Benjamin Franklin was not born here, but fled to Philadelphia to start a new life at the age of 17, where he spent most of his life until his death in 1790.
Weekend Of Service: Things To Do In And Around Philly This Weekend Jan. 17 To 20
You can see where Ben and his wife Deborah are buried at Christchurch Cemetery in Philadelphia. There is a small entrance fee to enter the cemetery, but you can see the graves outside. We didn’t go inside. These two pictures are taken from outside. You can put a pen on his grave.
Philadelphia is the only place in the United States where you can visit an actual post office. Postal workers here wear colonial-style clothing and write letters with quills and inkwells. It is a clear reflection of the colonial lifestyle of the time. People come from all over the world to send their mail here as mail sent from this post office was manually destroyed when electronic mail was used. Please send a card from here to remember your trip! One of the most popular activities in Philadelphia is sending wedding invitations from this post office.
Located just west of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, 15 19th-century boathouses on the Schuylkill River are home to a variety of community groups and boating organizations. If you’re looking for things to do in Philadelphia, this place is perfect for an evening stroll.
It is 40 feet tall and is located at the entrance to Philadelphia’s Chinatown district. This cosmopolitan area offers unique shops and some of the best Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai food in the city.
Things To Do In Philadelphia This Week & Weekend — Visit Philadelphia
Another highlight of the trip is a visit to the Philadelphia Magic Gardens. This is one of my favorites in Philadelphia!!
Isaiah Jagger, the artist behind the mosaic, hasn’t stopped since he began working on Philadelphia’s famous South Street in the 1960s.
There is a small fee to enter the gardens, but many of the gardens are visible outside and the walls surrounding the gardens are also decorated.
South Street is one of Philadelphia’s most diverse neighborhoods. Known as Philadelphia’s edgiest street, South Street is a melting pot of diverse clubs and cultures. With 300 different shops and more than 60 restaurants, cafes and bars, it oozes style and charm.

South Street is great for people watching. Whether you visit on a Tuesday afternoon or a Friday night, it’s always packed with hipster tourists and locals.
One of my favorite things to do in Philadelphia is walking across the Ben Franklin Bridge at sunset.
One side of the bridge is Philadelphia and the other is New Jersey. We took an Uber across the bridge to New Jersey and headed back to Philadelphia for dinner. It offers great views of the river and the Philadelphia skyline at sunset.
This is one of my favorite things to do in Philadelphia. Approximately 45 minutes and narrated by Steve Buscemi.

We love walking around Philadelphia, but sometimes you need a car. Thanks to Uber! Have you heard of Uber?? It is a service of your own car rather than a taxi. Download the Uber app and it will tell you where the nearest drivers are and how far your ride will be.
Uber works in most cities around the world and is less than 5 minutes away. You can schedule your trip through the app, so you don’t have to worry if your driver doesn’t speak English and you don’t know where to take you.
No need to wait outside for a taxi in cold, hot or rainy weather. The app sends a notification when the driver approaches and a new notification when the driver arrives.
Things To Do In Philadelphia
You can add your credit card or Paypal account to your Uber account so you don’t have to worry about paying your driver. Everything is done through the app, no money is exchanged. After boarding the car, the driver will take you to your destination and drop you off. There is no problem with payment and you can leave and go home.
An instruction manual is also included. It states that the website is built at the cost of the service. Much cheaper than a taxi! Uber is a fast, efficient and safe way to get around Philadelphia.
