Kid Friendly Things To Do By Denver

Everyone knows Denver as the Mile High City because it is only 5,280 feet above sea level. It is also the capital of Colorado and the state’s most populous city. We also found out that the USA has named it the best place to live in the United States. News and World Report.

We can see why it ranks so well among other cities in the country. Denver is a thriving city with plenty of open space and opportunities to live an active lifestyle, a great downtown, lots of cultural offerings, and great restaurants (we just rounded up the 15 best chefs here).

That being said, Denver’s altitude makes it difficult for some people. People with asthma and other conditions may not be comfortable here, and the bakers have plenty of time to properly (and artistically!) bake the cakes.

We don’t have illnesses and don’t plan to cook on a year-round trip around the world, so Denver was the perfect place to land and enjoy nature and the city in general.

Our home while in Denver was the historic Brown Palace Hotel. The Brown Palace is Denver’s oldest continuously operating hotel, and they were celebrating their 125th anniversary while we were there. If you want to stay overnight in Denver for the best things to do, Castle Brown is it!

We found the Brown Palace Hotel to be special for many reasons. The exterior was very modern for its time, built of stone in a flat or triangular shape. They preserve the facade and the complex entrance to the lobby with interior rooms, beautiful mirrors and arches and special lighting.

The Brown Palace Hotel also has several restaurants: Ship Tavern, Ellyingtons, Palace Arms and two lodges. They serve afternoon tea (a good Brit would appreciate this) and a Sunday Dom Perignon champagne brunch. We appreciate that the chefs try to use local and sustainable ingredients when preparing delicious dishes.

With its location right in the heart of the city, Castle Brown was the perfect starting point for each day of our Denver exploration. Let’s take a look at some of the best things we’ve found in Denver….

Best Places To Visit In Colorado In 2023 (by A Local)

The most beautiful place, Red Rocks Amphitheater with its large, surreal, large outdoor arena, is located among the red sandstone rocks about 10 miles west of Denver. Geologists, hikers, bikers and music lovers visit Red Rocks…year round.

The park itself is 738 acres and is located in the transition zone between the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains. It has unique and interesting geological features, fossils of past humans (including dinosaurs), flora and fauna, and some excellent walking and cycling routes. Entrance to the park is free and open daily from 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset.

With a capacity of more than 9,000, the stadium is a natural basin between Ship Rock and Creation Rock, creating a “perfect sound”. Concerts and events take place throughout the year, covering all genres of music, from techno and hip-hop to rock and country, and everything in between. Although tickets can be hard to come by – every concert is sold out – if you can snag a few, you won’t be disappointed with your experience. Sitting amongst the stars and giant monoliths surrounding the stage, you’ll lose yourself in the music.

Red Rocks Amphitheater is also known for its high performance! This game is no joke! Peter and I gave up and I had to gasp for air between the stairs! There were three reasons for this: Red Rocks Amphitheater is at an elevation of 6,000 feet, there are about 360 steps from the parking lot to the stands, and we practice in the winter, it was cold!

The nearby Red Rocks Amphitheater is a great place to go for a workout, concert, event, or just to admire the red sand and scenery! This is one of the best outdoor activities in Denver.

Located in the heart of Cheesman Park, the Botanic Gardens are definitely worth a few hours (or more) of your time. With 41 gardens and more than 15,000 types of plants spread over 24 acres, you’ll see impressive horticultural displays as well as sculptures and other works of art.

One of the best ways to experience the gardens is on a docent-led tour. It makes all the more sense when it’s explained by someone who clearly loves where they are.

Denver Union Station is more than just a transportation hub for the city. Built in the early Art Deco style and still beautiful, the station is home to city buses and trains, as well as Amtrak, The Crawford Hotel, shops and restaurants.

Located in what is now known as Lower Downtown, you’ll find Union Station to be a bustling daytime and evening entertainment hub with great seating and radio seats for people watching. You can wander through the various bottles and glasses, stop for a cup of coffee, shop or have a full meal, or head to a luxury hotel within the walls.

Best of all, you can get anywhere in the city from one place with RTD’s 125 buses, 9 subway lines (with 53 stations), and free MetroRide and free MallRide services. This makes it convenient for visitors who do not choose a car. You can also get transportation to Denver International Airport, as well as many area attractions and destinations.

While exploring the city, we stumbled upon Union Station, looked for food, and as we passed a restaurant, we found little shops, bars, and an open plaza full of people drinking, working, and hanging out with friends. This is a great place to hang out, enjoy a drink or coffee depending on the time of day and relax.

Larimer Square is a historic district in Denver and is home to buildings, museums, shops, restaurants and clubs. Walking distance (and Union Station), it’s a great place to hang out, browse the shops, and stop for a bite to eat.

Shoppers will love all the independent shops that offer shoes, clothing, jewelry, antiques, home goods, jewelry and more. You can shave and shave, make it for yourself (or your dog), or my favorite: a hat from Goorin Bros. — a shop run by four generations of artisans who will help you find the perfect box. above the head. They are also the Goorin Bros Hat Shop in Austin, Texas and we bought two hats when we lived there. If you’re hungry, Larimer Square has “one of the nation’s premier chef-driven food and beverage restaurants.” This means you get good food regardless of the time of day. The menu includes French cuisine, pub food, seafood, Italian, Mediterranean, fine grill and more. There will be no sorrow in your mouth.

Each building at the Denver Art Museum is a work of art in itself. Before entering, you must explore the three buildings that make up the best museum in the Mountain Time area.

This original building is the best of the palace and has more than 1 million beautiful tiles on its exterior thanks to the vision of Gio Ponti. I was particularly impressed by the museum’s second building, the Frederick C. Hamilton Building. I can’t decide if it looks like a futuristic spaceship from a Star Wars movie (with its 9,000 titanium panels) or if it’s just turned upside down. Either way, it’s great. The third is
