But the 28th annual show will be held Friday through Sunday at the Colorado Convention Center, where a $15 entry fee could mean getting skis, boards, boots, bindings, goggles or anything else you need on the slopes this season. . .

Front and Center will give you an early look at next year’s gear, but in an effort to prepare and get ready, we recently caught up with Chris Sears, OR’s retail relations manager, to see what this year’s show is all about. What are the expectations? In the state of the industry as a whole.

The 2019 Outdoor Vendor Snow Show is coming up in January. What’s new this year that retailers should consider and incorporate into their exhibition plans?

We are introducing several new value additions for retail buyers. Our Buy a Show with a Vet program allows a savvy buyer to gain a better understanding of how to navigate a show and what to look for. The “Retail Shopper Friend Program” provides a central meeting place for shoppers to connect with other retailers, share information and promote retail partnerships. And the night before the show starts, we host “The Mingler,” a networking event that gives all attendees the chance to reconnect with old friends and make new ones while enjoying live music, food and drinks. which gives opportunity. We also have an extensive educational lineup for participants, as well as select retreat venues such as Venture Out, Scandinavia Village and LUXE. Outdoor Trade Show Opens In Denver With Public Land Politics

The outdoor retailer has completed its first full year in Denver. How was your first year in a new city?

Denver welcomes the outdoor industry with open arms, and we had three great shows in 2018. Hosting a show in a larger city gives attendees more lodging options, better transportation, and better restaurants. The city offers many opportunities for sports, art and outdoor activities in and around the nearby mountains. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the City of Denver and providing attendees with an even better experience for years to come.

With two winter shows now – the winter market and the snow show – what are the differences and how should retailers approach each show?

Outdoor retailers are all about opportunity and innovation. Both shows, although changing, offer different trends based on the last date of purchase. The winter market focuses on footwear, clothing and innovation and marks the beginning of the winter sales season. Snowshoe is an end-of-season introduction to durable snow sports products. These two fairs end the busy shopping season, allowing retailers to focus on the deadlines for separating soft and hard goods.

How do retailers and other businesses benefit from attending a major trade show, such as a foreign trade show, compared to a regional trade show?

While regional shows are valuable and allow buyers to obtain specific information and current suppliers, the outdoors provides a comprehensive lens for the entire industry. Our team strives to provide a “30,000 foot view” of everything the industry has to offer the retailer. Discovery is the main reason, along with creating new partnerships and bringing communities together. Outdoor Retailer also provides significant funding to the Outdoor Industry Association, which advocates on business and recreation policy for the industry and promotes outdoor participation and enjoyment for all.

Outdoor Retailer is America’s largest snow sports and outdoor trade show. Canadian retailers have the opportunity to purchase more than 800 products, network with various non-profit organizations and media, showcase new products and celebrate our great industry, all under one roof. Participating relations are available to assist and answer any questions or concerns from buyers and representatives. Scholarship applications are available online for retailers to apply for travel assistance. Representatives can also recommend accounts that have challenges attending due to budget constraints. A common topic of recent discussion is the changing face of retail. How do you see physical stores evolving and what do you see as the future of retail?
