The Colorado State Fair is back and the centennial celebration is filled with special events and attractions like the 150-ton sand sculpture at the Colorado State Fair, the largest clapper in the world, the United States Mullet Championship, the history of the Colorado horse and more. . a show and commemorative fireworks to end the Labor Day celebration. All the usual shows and activities will be available, along with endless entertainment including Walker Hayes, Randy Rogers Band presented by Big R/DeWalt, Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry, Stone Temple Pilots and Firefall. Are the mid-term elections, a divided country, Covid and climate change driving you crazy and depressed? Don’t expect to leave anytime soon, but meeting the new moon and taking a sound bath at sunset at the Eldorado Springs Arts Center may ease your anxiety for at least one evening. Percussionist Scott Pridgen and therapist Meg Krug lead sound technology during an hour-long meditative sound bath in the sculpture garden using singing bowls and other resonant musical instruments. When Glenn Kurtz discovers a fragment of 16mm film taken by his grandfather during a trip to Poland in 1938, he discovers a world of hidden stories captured in the smiling faces of members of the Jewish community in Nasielsk, Poland. A year later, the same townspeople were deported and ended up in the Treblinka concentration camp. Kurtz turned the documentary footage into a book, which shaped the lives of the people shown in each frame, and led the director Bianca Stigter to follow in his footsteps. DCPA Off-Center: Theater of the Mind Wednesday, August 31 – December 22, daily except Monday at York Street Yards, 3887 Steele Street Theater of the Mind The long-awaited but exciting work of Denver by David Byrne, a personal narrative led by fellow creative Mala Ghankar, finally takes off at York Street Yards, a massive 15,000 square foot venue. Don’t expect Byrne to watch or host; He did his job. No platform. Instead, one of the guides outside the center takes guests through a long thought process, enhanced by stunning visuals and hands-on tactile tasks that engage all the senses.
