Book a family-friendly cabin here and you’ll have no reason to leave (although proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park is a BIG reason). Activities include archery, sports, campfires, fishing, snowshoeing and basically any other outdoor fun you can think of. The YMCA of the Rockies also has a spacious lodge that offers great food and opportunities to meet other adventure families.
The Stanley Hotel is anything but haunted. Instead, it is a large, luxurious hotel in a stunning setting. It offers fun year-round activities such as concerts, tours and even dinner theater. My favorite, however, is Cascades Whiskey Bar & Lounge, a whiskey-focused bar in Stanley that’s possibly the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever tasted.
Experience a classic bed and breakfast in Rocky Mountain splendor. Formerly known as the Baldpate Inn, this is what Seven Keys Lodge offers (except for the cabins). Open every year from Memorial Day weekend through mid-October, it’s a great spot for a romantic getaway, but it’s also a great spot if you’re in the area for a mountain adventure. However, during the summer you can cross the Trail Ridge or Old Fall River roads to the west to reach Grand Lake on the other side of TLDM. Take a day trip starting on Old Fall River Road one way and returning to Trail Ridge Road.

Estes Park is located at the north end of the Peak to Peak Byway, which runs south on CO-7, CO-72 and CO-119 to Black Hawk. It takes about an hour and a half (one way) one way, so it’s a great commute from the greater Denver area.
