Hiking Trails In Keystone Colorado
The Mesa-Cortina Trail South Willow Creek Falls is 8.7 miles (4.35 miles to the falls) and back. The most difficult path is defined. Cover the tracks with grass along the way, good for wildlife viewing. For just over 4 miles, it climbs to Willow Creek South Falls. Get ready to live in beauty.
Keystone Colorado Summer Activities
To access the trail, from the town of Silverthorne, head south on Wildernest Road, then turn right on Wildernest Road toward Buffalo Mountain Drive. After 0.8 miles turn right onto Lakeview Drive and left onto Aspen Drive. Continue for 0.2 miles and there will be a parking lot on the right side of the road. Space is limited, so arrive early.
The Lower Waterfall Loop Trail is a 2.3 mile loop that includes beautiful wildflowers and a waterfall. There is a slope here, when you mix streets, tall pine forests and aspen groves. Great lakes and waterfalls, mountains, wildlife.
To access this trail head north on Highway 9 to Argentorati for about 10.5 miles, turning left onto Heeney Road, just before crossing the Blue River. Stay on the Heeney River for 8.5 miles and turn left onto Pass Road 1725. Follow 1725 for approximately 3 miles. Pass the truck warning on the left to the lower Cataract Loop Trail parking lot. The last half mile to 1725 is gravel, but easily handled by two wheeled carts.
Willow Creek Falls over South Willow Creek is 6.3 miles and back. I decided it would be very difficult. The road is very narrow so there is a good distance between drivers. During the hike you will cross bridges, see wild flowers and wildlife and the course of your waterfalls.

The Willowbrook Trailhead can be accessed by driving 1.5 miles north of Silver. Turn left onto Willowbrook Road. About a mile up Willowbrook Road is the Willowbrook Trailhead parking lot, on the left. There is parking for 15-20 cars.
The Gore Range Trail to Meadow Creek Trail Loop is a challenging 12.5 mile hike with over 3,000 feet of elevation gain along the way. Due to the difficulty of this hike, you won’t see other people on the trail, which is perfect for social distancing and really focusing on the beauty of the view. Make sure they have plenty of water and are ready for exercise.
The Buffalo Mountain Trailhead begins this hike at the top of Wildernest. It then joins the Gore Range Trail and falls to Willow Creek. Return to the valley between Buffalo Mountain, Red Peak and Church Pass. The trail crosses Eccles Pass and then joins the Meadow Creek Trail. Finally, it connects with Lily Pad Trail #50, crosses Lily Pad Lake, and ends at the Buffalo Mountain Trailhead. Some places will wet your feet, some will bring socks.
This road is at the west end of Ryan Gulch Road. Follow Wildernest Road south to Argentia. Turn left onto Ryan Gulch Road, follow the curving road for 3.5 miles to a straight road. You can see the parking lot from the driveway on the left.

Many people will find the Dercum climb difficult, so they will take the cable car up the mountain and back on the Schoolmarm Trail. This popular Keystone Trail passes through the Dillon Reservoir Recreation Area. This 4.6-mile hike is an easy hike that offers lake views year-round. Best Hikes And Trails Around Vail
Don’t miss the Old Dillon County Trail while exploring the Dillon County area. 1.7 miles of courses for all ages and skill levels – especially those transitioning to higher elevations and families with children. No matter the season, hikers will enjoy lake views, beautiful foliage, and wildlife.
Part of the Soda Creek Trail System, the Ranch Loop Back is an 8-mile hike with an elevation gain of approximately 710 feet. Walk through open meadows, forests and marvel at the wildlife. Hikers should be hopeful at the start, but the trail descends about halfway down. For a longer ride, try the entire Soda Park Loop, which is 10.5 miles long. Remember, this is also a mountain biking area.
