The town is also a convenient weekend or day trip from Rocky Mountain National Park, as well as a number of popular ski areas, including Winter Park Resort. Adventurous travelers have no shortage of trails and outdoor activities, including sledding, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and snowshoeing in the nearby mountains.

The Downtown Denver Rink returns each season from November through February to celebrate Denver’s holiday spirit. The ice rink was a popular winter activity, attracting more than 40,000 skaters last year.

Located in Skyline Park at 1601 Arapahoe St., the rink is free for anyone who brings their skates. Adults can rent skates for $11 and children 12 and under can rent a pair for $9. All age groups welcome.

Are you a traveler visiting or passing through the Mile High City in the winter? Take advantage of the airport’s completely free skating rink and go ice skating at the Denver International Airport Plaza.
Find this 40 x 60 foot runway between the Jeppesen Terminal and the Westin Hotel. Camps are usually open from November to January from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. all day Get your free rental at the Westin and hit the ice!

Denver embraces its arts community with monthly celebrations held in neighborhoods throughout Denver. Scheduled for the first Friday of every month, First Friday Art Walks features cultural performances, music, art exhibits, art walks and more in Denver’s arts district.
My favorite is the Santa Fe Arts District. From 5:30 to 9:30 pm, this event draws spectators to Santa Fe Drive to enjoy cultural performances and tasty food trucks.

Get out of the snow and into the Tattered Cover Bookstore in McGregor Square, one of the largest independent bookstores in the United States where many famous authors host free book signings. Sip your favorite coffee beverage while browsing the store’s selection of books, games, cards and stationery. For tourists, this is a perfect place because Wi-Fi and web browsing are free.

Sports fans won’t want to miss the free Colorado Sports Hall of Fame museum, which honors the state’s sports legends. The museum is located at Sports Authority Field in Mile High and is open Thursday through Saturday.

Fashionistas remember the Wild West by checking out the historic Rockmount Ranch Wear, which invented the snap button western shirt. Located in LoDo, the wall is a hall of fame of famous personalities, from Elvis Presley to Toby Keith, who have worn his shirt.

Located in Skyline Park, the family-friendly Christkindl Market is Denver’s version of a European Christmas market. Admission is free and the market remains open from November 18 to December 23. Local artisans and vendors from around the world, including Germany, Ukraine and Ireland, offer hand-carved sculptures, candles, ornaments and more for sale. Hear traditional Christmas carols and live German music. Traditional German food, mulled wine and hot chocolate are available for purchase.

Amazing Things To Do In Denver In Winter: 2023 Guide
The annual Grand Illumination kickoff event, held Nov. 26, features the lighting of the station’s 40-foot outdoor Mile Tall Tree, which features more than 7,000 holiday lights. Stay to meet Santa, hear classic holiday stories from the Denver Dolls, then enjoy a drink at Union Station’s Terminal Bar.
Also at Union Station, an outdoor light show called Merry & Bright Lights showcases mesmerizing visuals across the facade of Denver’s iconic train station. Created by local artists, this free exhibition will take place between November 27 and December 27 from until 10:00. every night
For free kid-friendly fun, stop by Union Station between 11 a.m. and 16.00. November 28, December 11 and December 18 see Father and Mrs. Claus.
If you’re traveling without kids, or it’s a parents’ night out, don’t miss the wonder at Union Station, a pop-up bar with tasty holiday cocktails that opens on November 23rd for guests 21 and over.

Everyone loves a parade, and the city of Denver boasts its fair share. Thousands of locals and tourists flock to the city for front row seats to three Mile High parades during the winter. Get started with the best holiday show at the 9NEWS Parade of Lights Weekend, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. December 3, 2022. Tonight’s parade features a marching band, fancy floats and appearances by Major Waddles, the Penguins and Santa Claus.

10. New Year’s fireworks Ring in the new year with a thousand fireworks. The first set of fireworks will light up the sky at 9:00 pm, and the second display will light up at midnight. For the best view, grab a spot along the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver. (Even on New Year’s Eve, you’ll find family-friendly things to do in Denver.)

Texas Longhorn cattle are driven through town streets in January during the annual Rodeo Parade at the National Western Stockshow and rodeo. This celebration of all things western brings cowboys and cowgirls, horses, live music and wagons and riders to celebrate the start of one of the largest indoor rodeos in the world, the National Western Stock Show in January in Denver.
