The Oklahoma City National Memorial is a place to remember the events of April 19, 1995. This memorial honors the 168 people and 19 children who lost their lives in the explosion of the Alfred P. Moore State Building. It also honors the many survivors and first responders affected by the disaster and provides a place of recovery for those affected. The grounds of the Oklahoma City National Memorial include a “Gateway of Time” surrounding a reflecting pool, a field of 168 empty bronze chairs honoring everyone killed during the bombing, and two trees that were badly burned. But the survivor’s tree still stands.
