Family Things To Do In Vail Colorado – Baby Halak is just 5 weeks away from making her world debut as she needs to give birth. We were thrilled to be able to enjoy a wintery, snowy babymoon hosted by Sonnenalp in the Colorado Valley this January and experience all its beauty as a family of three on our last vacation.
It was a great vacation for the kids because living in sunny Southern California doesn’t allow us to experience many seasons.

Here’s the Halal Family Travel Guide – a kid-friendly Colorado Vail travel guide to the best things to do with kids in Colorado Vail in the winter. Enjoy!
Vail Sledding Hills
We had the pleasure of being hosted by the Sonnenal Hotel Vail during our entire childhood. Will definitely be back! A very nice hotel in a small town with shops and restaurants and only a 5 minute walk from the ski resort. Everything was perfect
The full view of the glass breakfast surrounded me with nature (it snowed early in the morning and I’ve never seen such a beautiful breakfast environment). 4 days with kid-friendly activities) and the room – let’s say you want to check out our blog to see the view from the room and the balcony. Epic beauty
Silvercar made airport transfers and some of our adventures so enjoyable! I usually dread renting a car, but this silver car from Audi Car Rentals (we took an Audi Q5 for the trip) made it easy! We got off the plane and clicked the ‘I’m here’ button on the Silvercar app.I was told which door to exit and where to wait in the shuttle. Oh yes, they make the perfect car seat for families traveling with a baby in a car seat!
Thank you Silvercar for offering sweet tea for our trip and making everything so easy!
Exciting Things To Do In Vail, Colorado In The Winter (besides Skiing!)
We waited all week to have dinner here, it was worth the wait Beautiful decor, great waitstaff, great authentic German food We absolutely loved our last meal at Vail! Best of all, it’s only a minute’s walk from Sonnenalp in the village! But book in advance as each night is fully booked!
A wonderful follower of mine recommended Etieti Grind for coffee and was so impressed that I came back the second day for a quick (and absolutely delicious) breakfast and the drinks were to die for!
How to get there: Etieti Grind is in the main city, near the skating rink!
Now it’s in the center of town, a 3 minute walk from the Sonnenalp and we had the whole skating rink to ourselves!! Ava and Frank did this because the baby in my belly prevented me from following Bowl Skates and we rented skates as soon as they opened at 11am and it wasn’t long enough for Ava to use (kids start at 8).
Vail Family Pictures
Ever since we went to Disney on ice a few weeks ago, Ava has been asking to go ice skating and we’ve been smiling from ear to ear since then!
This is definitely one of our favorite experiences of all time The beauty of the mountainside was EPIC Walk that way to the ski area by the river and you will see the gondola It’s free after 3:30pm and it doesn’t close late Around 9pm? We woke up around 4:30 and Sonnenalp actually took us there. What benefits they offer! It was a 5-10 minute walk to get there and when we reached the top the view was amazing Can’t get enough pictures and videos!
We went to the little wildlife museum at the top, which was a fun little pit stop, and then we went up the mountain for the sunrise. We met the sweetest couple who said this look was named “For the Glory of the Purple Mountains,” and it’s true. Stay there until dark and you’ll have the best view you’ll ever see
Ava was only two years old, so she didn’t need a big hill for her sled.In fact, Conner offered to go on a wonderful ice road ride along the river, one day he gave us a sled and went on the most beautiful river ride we’ve ever seen!
Top 10 Activities To Do On Your Vail Family Vacation
If your back is facing the entrance of the Sonnenalp ballet, start down the street (right) until you reach the first floor (20 steps). Take the road to the left and follow the signs to the hospital. After the hospital turns right, the road ends and you see the road I’m talking about! If you walk along the river for about 5 minutes, you will reach the ski resort and if you continue walking from the resort, the bike path will join on the other side and there we will go to the river. From a small tax. A perfect sled top for beauty and elegance!
Golden, Colorado, home of Coors Brewery, flies from Denver International Airport to Vail, Colorado. And Frank’s dad has worked on the course for as long as Frank can remember, so it was a perfect pit stop to make it. The brewery tour is first come, first served and the line is about an hour and a half (in the winter), so I decided to park and go inside! We visit the gift shop, take pictures and see some really cool artwork, and then everyone who goes (over 21 of course) gets to taste it for free! Yes, it’s free! Of course I didn’t eat it this time (they gave me a lemon) but we headed to the bar for a drink before hitting the road and heading to the lake!
This ice castle was amazing! We saw it all lit up at night, but I’ve seen pictures of it during the day and it looks beautiful in the light. After checking out the slide through the ice tunnel and checking out all the sights, we headed straight across the street to the bowling alley coffee shop for some much needed hot chocolate.
