Tucson is filled with unique characters and fun museums to keep you entertained year-round, especially in the summer when we finally see the third thermometer and rush to find the coolest air conditioner around. Some of our favorite museums to visit include the Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium, the Children’s Museum of Tucson, the Ignite Sign Art Museum, the Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures, the Tucson Museum of Art, and the Arizona State Museum.

Do you want to be a little more active this summer? There are several indoor locations in Tucson where you can set your outdoor routine. Try Rock Climbing + Fitness, Rocks & Ropes, BLOC Climbing + Fitness + Yoga, Elevate Trampoline Park, Get Air Trampoline Park and Defy Tucson. If you want to visit any of these places more than a few times this summer, there are many summer passes that cover multiple visits.
If you have kids at home who need to burn off some energy but don’t want them running around under the hot Arizona sun, check out an indoor play area. These indoor playgrounds include jungle playgrounds, play mats and other child safety equipment and toys. Sure, there are a lot of big company theaters in Tucson, but summer is a great time to support local theater. Check out the Loft Cinema for a great selection of movies and the Loft Kids Fest every year. The Fox Theater is also offering a sing-along movie this summer!

With 27 libraries across Pima County, there are plenty of places to hang out and hide from the sun. When you visit the library, you can check out your favorite books or find a new favorite. If you feel stuck on what to read, ask your local author, they have lots of recommendations based on your interests. The Pima County Public Library also hosts nearly 200 events for children, youth and adults for its “Summer Learning” series. Some of the events include children’s shows, desert gardening with children and children’s sea crafts.

Another great way to relax this summer is to take a yoga class at home. Tucson has plenty of outdoor yoga options, including puppy and goat yoga, but the best way to beat the heat is to find an indoor yoga class. Some of your options include classes at Yoga Oasis, which has three locations in Tucson, 4th Avenue Yoga, and Om Yoga, which also offers aerial yoga classes.
