Built in the 1970s, PIER 39 was one of the first and most successful attempts to transform San Francisco’s waterfront into a vibrant and vibrant attraction for visitors and locals alike. Ways To Spend A Day In San Francisco, California — Away With Anna

Players Sports Grill & Arcade features the usual sports bar buzz with over 200 live sports feeds from around the world on 30 screens, 16 beer taps, a great bar menu and deli sandwiches, plus over 85 games, a full gift center and arcade entertainment. Again a lot.

PIER 39 has more than 60 specialty shops that sell everything from saltwater candies to left-handed goods, from custom spices to handmade jewelry. Many shopkeepers work directly behind the counter, and if you get caught, stop by the California Welcome Center and they’ll help you ship your San Francisco souvenirs home.
Climbing stairs is not only good for your health; At PIER 39, it’s also interactive art. A set of symphonic stairs in the center of the PIER, straight out of the Tom Hanks movie Big, lets you create your own music as you ascend (or descend). If you’re lucky, you might gather a group of sea lions for barking backup.
Don’t miss one of the talented street performers and local musicians who entertain multiple times throughout the day, including magicians, magicians, comedians and everything in between. Best of all, the show is free and no tickets are required – just bring your imagination, your sense of humor and of course your camera if you want to be part of the action.
