Vail has two beautiful outdoor skating rinks, one at Solaris in Vail Village and the other at Vail Square adjacent to Arrabel in Lionshead Village. Ice skating is a fun way to spend a day in Vail. However, if you are a more serious skater, you can spend some time at Dobson Ice Arena.

That’s why you chose Vail for your winter vacation, so it’s already part of your plans. But we can not remove him from the list – in fact, he himself! Vail Ski Mountain has designated 63 acres for family education and a designated slow area. The entire area is located on the greenway for beginners and runs in the mountains from Eagle’s Nest to Game Creek. With 5,317 acres of skiable terrain, 195 runs, and 31 lifts, there’s plenty of room for skiers of all abilities.

Beaver Creek is only a 10 to 15 minute drive from Vail. It is worth spending a day on the mountain while in the area. The new McCoy Park is a really fun area for beginners where more experienced skiers can have fun too. We call Beaver Creek Mountain where the locals learn to ski.

It would be remiss if we didn’t mention Vail’s many summer activities. While Vail is best known for winter and its ski slopes, summer in Vail is a popular time of year for locals. The White River National Park surrounds the town, offering incredible outdoor adventures and hiking trails.
