To Do In Colorado Springs This Weekend – Colorado is home to some of my favorite places from Denver to Rocky Mountain National Park and now Colorado Springs is on the list. There are many fun things to do in Colorado Springs; It can be difficult to fit into a long weekend, but it is possible. Colorado Springs is a small town south of Denver that has been on my bucket list for a while, so I have an itinerary planned in advance if I ever get the chance to visit over the weekend.

To Do In Colorado Springs This Weekend
Colorado is full of all seasons, so it’s important to understand how the weather can affect what you want to do. Colorado Springs’ southern location means winters are milder than other parts of Colorado. Like most places in Colorado, Colorado Springs is close to ski resorts and other winter activities, but it’s not the best base for skiing unless it’s a 1-3 hour drive. While you can see all the springs in the winter, the best time to visit Colorado Springs is from April to October, with June to August being the peak season. Visits during this period included mountain biking at Red Rock Canyon Open Space; This will ensure a comfortable temperature for hiking or visiting Pikes Peak.

We visited in late May with temperatures in the 60s and temperatures in the low 70s (F). It is very nice during the day and a little cold at night. The newly renovated Cogway is open year-round, although some snow has fallen on the peak and is no longer accessible.

From Denver International Airport, you can rent a car and drive 2.5 hours south to Colorado Springs. Here we stopped in Denver and enjoyed the city for a while before heading south. Be warned, you may encounter rush hour or construction. Be sure to use Google Maps in advance to plan the required time.
You can book a bus to get to Colorado Springs, but you’ll definitely want a rental car to get into town. So, if you’re flying that way, it makes more sense to rent a car at Denver International Airport.
Things To Do In Colorado Springs With Kids
Colorado Springs has its own airport, which is the fastest way to get there, and it’s best if you’re not interested in stopping in Denver. But who doesn’t want to stop in Denver? Flying into the Colorado Springs airport will likely add more costs and traffic, so decide what’s best for you.
Colorado Springs is an adventure seeker; family Suitable for everyone who wants to relax with friends. But it’s as good for outdoor enthusiasts as anywhere in Colorado. From mountain biking and hiking to the scenic Pike’s Peak Cog Railway; There is something for all activity levels to enjoy in the natural beauty of Colorado Springs.
First on the list and the most popular place to visit is the Garden of the Gods. The Garden of the Gods is a nature reserve covering more than 1,300 hectares of sandstone. Big stones are hard to miss. A park is a walk; This is a great place to go for a walk, or take a Jeep or Segway tour. Big rocks were sticking out of the ground and looked really sharp. The park is free to enter every day of the week. The visitor center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., where you can learn more about the park and book tours.
We passed the visitor center and crossed the park, stopping on the way to take in the beautiful scenery. My favorite thing to do is to rent an e-bike and go for a walk in and around the park. Be sure to check out that tour option if you visit.
Unusual Things To Do In Colorado Springs
Garden of the Gods is highly recommended, but I also loved Red Rock Canyon Open Space, a less populated park nearby. Red Rock Canyon Open Space is approximately 1,400 acres, larger than the Garden of the Gods, and offers hiking trails and is great for biking and hiking. I chose mountain biking as the highlight of my entire trip and the best mountain biking experience (even as a beginner). Much less crowded than Garden of the Gods, plenty of parking, and similar views. But the red rock isn’t that special compared to Red Rock Canyon Open Space (as the name suggests!).
Mountain bike rentals are easy – just go to Routes Outfitters next to Red Canyon Open Space, pick up your gear and bikes, and bike from the bike shop to the park entrance. Especially during the weekend, the bikes sell out very well on Sundays, so you can pre-order them.
Then ride your bike back to the store and head to Trails End Brewery for tastings and food in the same mall as Routes.
Another, the Peak of America, also known as Mount America, is the highest peak south of the Rocky Mountains. It’s the place where Katharine Lee Bates wrote America the Beautiful in 1893, and it’s pretty cool to think about. Pikes Peak is only 12 miles from downtown Colorado Springs and is easily accessible by car. 14 feet in warmer months; You can drive up to 112 feet.

Another popular option is to take the cog railway to the top of the mountain for a more scenic ride. Royal Gorge Bridge & Park was an unexpected highlight of our trip to Colorado Springs. The Royal Gorge Bridge is the tallest suspension bridge in the United States and offers spectacular views of the deep Arkansas River below.
It takes just over an hour to get to the bridge from downtown Colorado Springs. This visitor center highlights the historical significance of the site and the construction of the bridge. The surrounding park has something to do for all activity levels: beach swings; Zip line and my favorite Via Ferrata. To be honest, the reason I visited the Royal Gorge Bridge was the Via Ferrata (because my colleague Joey is a civil engineer and loves a good bridge). Things To Do In Colorado This Spring
Royal Gorge Bridge & Park did not disappoint. If you’ve been following along for a while, you know you’ve experienced the Via Ferrata at Nelson Rock in West Virginia, but you probably enjoyed the Via Ferrata at Royal Gorge Park even more. The bridge is amazing and the view of the Arkansas River through the canyon is amazing.
Wind Cave Mountain Park is a great stop for families and adults looking for fun. cave tour of the park; There are many activities to choose from, including rock climbing and zip lining. A guided cave tour would be a great activity on a rainy day. Their duration ranges from 45 to 90 minutes. Cave of the Wind offers a 2-hour guided Via Ferrata and Terror-Dactyl Tour for thrill seekers. It seems wrong to go to Colorado and go hiking, doesn’t it? Colorado Springs has several trails nearby, but the most interesting is the Broadmoor Seven Falls Trail.
