In this post, I’ll tell you about the best things to do in Denver! You’ll never run out of fun things to do in Denver, but we’re focusing on a dozen that we think are worth your time in this mile high!
Family Things To Do In Denver, Colorado
Everyone knows Denver as the city that is 5,280 feet above sea level. It is also the capital of Colorado and the state’s most populous city. We also found out that US News and World News named it the best place to live in America.
We can see why it ranks well among other cities around the country. Denver is a thriving metropolis with lots of active spaces and active lifestyle opportunities, a great city, cultural events, and a great food scene (they filmed Top Chef season 15 here).
However, Denver’s altitude makes it difficult for some people. People with asthma and other conditions may not be able to do well here, and the baker has time to let the cakes rise normally (it’s an art form!).
We don’t have any serious illnesses, and we don’t plan on cooking during our year-long trip around the world, so Denver is a great place for us to land and enjoy the outdoors and all that the city has to offer.
Best Kid Friendly Things To Do In Denver In 2023
Our accommodation in Denver was at the historic Brown Court Hotel downtown. The Brown Palace is Denver’s oldest continuously operating hotel, and they were celebrating their 125th anniversary when we visited. If you’re wondering where to stay in Denver to make the most of the many activities, Brown Palace!
We found the Brown Palace Inn unique for many reasons. The look is very modern today and is made of flat or triangular stones. They have preserved the facade with an interior lobby with a sophisticated entrance leading to the grand lobby, beautiful balustrades and arches, and unique light fixtures.
The Brown Court Hotel also has several restaurants: The Dockyard, Ellington’s and the Court Arms, as well as two cocktail lounges. They offer afternoon tea (with a real English touch) and a Dom Pérignon champagne brunch on Sunday. We appreciate that the chefs strive to use local and sustainable ingredients to prepare wonderful dishes.
With its location in the heart of the city, the Brown Palace is a great base for exploring Denver every day. Let’s take a look at some of the cool things we found in Denver.
Holidays 2022: Dozens Of Things To Do In Denver
Jaynek drops is a beautiful, red rock amphitheater with a stunning, authentic, outdoor amphitheater nestled in the deep red sandstone cliffs 16 miles west of Denver. Geologists, hikers, bikers and music lovers visit Red Rock all year round.
The park itself is 738 hectares in size and is located in the transition zone between the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains. It has some truly unique and interesting geological features, remains of former inhabitants (including dinosaurs), flora and fauna, and great hiking and biking trails. The park is free to enter and is open daily from one hour at sunrise to one hour at sunset.
With a capacity of over 9,000 tanks, the naturally formed pool is wedged between Ship Rock and Creation Rock, creating “acoustic perfection”. Concerts and events are organized throughout the year and cover all genres of music, from techno and hip-hop to rock and country. Although tickets are hard to come by, every concert sells out – if you can snag them, you won’t be disappointed with the experience. You sit between the giant monoliths and stars that line both sides of the stage and get lost in the music.
Red Rock Amphitheater is also known for high intensity workouts! This stair workout is no joke! Peter and I gave it a go and I couldn’t breathe in the middle of the stairs! This is for three reasons, the red rock amphitheater is 6000 feet high, there are 360 steps from the parking lot to the top view, and we do stair exercises in the winter, it’s cold!
Things To Do In Denver Colorado During A Layover
Overall, Red Rock Amphitheater is a great place to go to rehearsals, concerts, events, or just enjoy Red Rock and the scenery! This is one of the best outdoor activities in Denver.
The Botanical Gardens in Chessman Park are also worth a few hours (or more). The 24-hectare area has 41 gardens and more than 15,000 plants. You will see amazing flowers, sculptures and art.
A great way to get to know the park is a tour led by a docent. It makes everything more meaningful when it’s explained by someone who loves the environment they live in.
In summer, outdoor festivals are organized here, while winter holidays bring bright flowers.
Best Road Trips From Denver, Colorado
Denver Union Station is not the only transportation hub in the city. Built during the early Art Deco era and still beautiful, this site includes city buses and train lines as well as Amtrak, the Crawford Hotel, shops and restaurants.
Located in what is now Lower Downtown, Union Station is a hub of activity both day and night, and the station’s benches and benches provide people-watching spots. You can wander through the various shops and galleries, stop for a cup of coffee, a cocktail or a full meal or visit the luxury hotel within the walls.
Best of all, you can get anywhere in the city with 125 RTD bus routes, 9 train lines (53 stations), and free MetroRide and MallRide services. This is very convenient for visitors who do not want to take a car. You’ll also find transportation to Denver International Airport and many local ski resorts and resorts.
We were just looking for something to eat while exploring the city when we arrived at Uni station, we passed a restaurant and found an open square full of small shops, bars and people drinking, working and fair. Stay with friends. It’s a great place to relax, have a drink or coffee and relax depending on the time of day.

Larimer Square is a historic area of Denver that is now home to galleries, shops, restaurants and clubs. Walking distance from the center (and Union station), it’s worth browsing the shops and stopping to eat.
Shoppers will enjoy all the independent boutiques offering shoes, clothing, jewelry, antiques, home goods, beauty products and more. You can get a shave and cut, treat yourself (or your dog) or my favorite: a hat at Goorin Bros., a shop of four generations of artisans where they’ll help you find the perfect coat. On your head. If you’re hungry, Larimer Square has “one of the premier regional and chef-owned restaurants in the country.” This means you’ll find great food no matter the day. The menu includes French, bar food, seafood, Italian, Mediterranean and high-class BBQ food. Your stomach will not be disappointed.
How about jazz and cocktails in the Red Room? Or laugh in a comedy? Larimer Square is never short of nightlife or a good mixologist.

Each building at the Denver Art Museum is a work of art in itself. Before entering, you must take 3 buildings which are the best museum in the mountain time zone.
The original building is a modern version of a castle inspired by Gio Ponti’s vision. There are over a million reflective mirrors on the outside. Another museum structure that impressed me the most was the Frederick C. Hamilton Building. I can’t decide if it looks like a futuristic spaceship from a Star Wars movie (9,000 titanium plates) or if it’s just a reverse model. Anyway, it’s awesome. third and
