Some of the best rafting spots in the country can be found just a short drive from Breckenridge. The Arkansas River in central Colorado runs through the famous Browns Canyon National Monument, there are options on the Eagle River near Vail, and of course the Blue River in Breckenridge. When the snow melts, it’s time to grab your reel and waders and hit the rivers and lakes in and around Breckenridge. Although Breckenridge can be fished year-round, there’s nothing quite like a warm, sunny day on the river. If you have tackle, make sure you have a Colorado fishing license and be prepared! If not, rent gear and take lessons or visit one of the many fishing shops in town. One of our favorite places to fish in the summer is along Lower Iroquois Lake or the Blue River, where you can catch Colorado’s national fish, the cutthroat trout.
Stand-up paddleboarding is one of the most popular summer pastimes, and for good reason! Whether you’re training in the deep with a paddle or relaxing in the sun, make it a day to relax on the water. Try paddling at Maggie Pool for an easy paddle perfect for beginners, or a SUP yoga class if you’re in good shape.
Take part in one of BreckCreate’s creative workshops or classes in clay throwing, woodworking, glassblowing or jewelry making. Local artists work on the Art District campus and offer studio hours and classes for visitors to observe or learn about their work.

Make your day by tasting delicious pike on a distillery and brewery tour. The adventure begins in the lower part of town with short sightseeing stops at selected locations as you take the Blue River Wreck Trail. This one-of-a-kind trail is serviced year-round and features some of our state’s most beautiful scenery as it passes through Breckenridge along the famous Blue River. After reaching Breckenridge Distillery and Breckenridge, you can fill up on booze before heading back into town.
In the 1800s, the Country Boy Mine was one of the largest and most famous gold mines in Colorado. Today, you can go underground on a tour of the Bed Brows Original Mine, go down an ore chute and find gold.
