Hotel Jerome Review: What To Really Expect If You Stay
I recommend the 1 bedroom suite which is larger than most and room service and concierge were on site!
My wife and I recently stayed at the Jerome Hotel for two nights while in Aspen and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Staying in a hotel that dates back to the 19th century is the perfect way to explore this historic city. The hotel perfectly combines old-fashioned Western luxury and charm, so you can always surround yourself with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Pre-Arrival Planning/Experience: Our trip was in early December, a fairly slow period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I thought this was actually the perfect time to go to Aspen as we benefited from more snow, fewer people and beautiful holiday decorations. We have been to Aspen a few times before and this time we came back for just a couple of nights to enjoy the town and our favorite restaurants and bars. In our opinion, there are three main luxury hotels in Aspen: Hotel Jerome, Little Nell and the St. Regis. We stayed at the St. Regis twice before, but both times we had issues with the service and wanted to avoid it this time. I briefly considered the Little Nell for this trip, but it was more than the Jerome Hotel, and I was never drawn to the Little Nell the way I was to the Jerome Hotel. Jerome’s historic atmosphere and warmth really draws us in and puts it at the top of our list for a while. I am very glad we decided to stay at Hotel Jerome this time. Shortly after booking I received the usual welcome email with concierge contact information in case we had any questions prior to our stay. Although we already know Aspen well, I contacted the concierge who responded very quickly and professionally. They provided additional information about free airport transportation, as well as several documents with information about recommended local restaurants and activities that would be especially helpful on a first trip to Aspen. Arrival experience: On arrival we used the free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. When we called the hotel, we were picked up outside the luggage in less than 15 minutes. We were impressed with the comfortable and very well equipped SUV for the tour, which turned out to be private since we were the only ones arriving at the time. If you want a guaranteed private transfer, they offer it for $100 one way and the car will wait for you and track your exact flight (instead of calling a short distance bus). We thought the free option was great and generally didn’t feel the need to pay for a private transfer. The employee who drove us was very friendly and accommodating, and as soon as we arrived at the hotel less than 10 minutes later, several employees met us and took all of our belongings and immediately took us to the front desk. The reception staff were very nice and immediately offered us a glass of sparkling wine or a cocktail as a welcome drink. We were also happy to hear that our room had been upgraded from a Basic Deluxe King to a King Junior Suite and that the room was already available for us around 11:00. I was particularly impressed with the upgrade as we were not regular guests and were not there to celebrate a special occasion. It wasn’t a very busy week so they probably just had extra and decided to be generous, which was much appreciated and makes it more likely that we will return in the future. Once check-in was complete, a friendly bell boy escorted us to our room and another had already taken our luggage there by the time we finished at reception. I appreciated that on the way to our room the bell boy guided us around the hotel’s various facilities and restaurants, so that we had a good overview of the hotel. He did
