“I personally have kids between the ages of 6 and 16, and I want them to enjoy Shabbos.”
Rabbi Shaia Winiarz has done it again! Through his previous book, 39 Things to Do on Shabbos (Adult Edition), Jews around the world learn that Shabbos is the most beautiful day and that there are limits to what we can do in Shabbos.
Surah An Nur Ayat 39 (24:39 Quran) With Tafsir
Gedolei Israel asks Rabbi Winiarz to write a sequel – this time for the kids! Why Only Adults Can Learn to Love Shabbos? Even the younger generation can participate! Let’s make it possible for everyone to experience the joy and happiness that comes from following the Holy Torah of Hashem.
Rabbi Shaya Winiarz is gaining popularity in the Jewish world. He is a popular columnist in many magazines and newspapers, and his books are studied and appreciated by Jewish communities around the world. This is his fourth book, 39 Originals of Adults Doing, Taking Time, and Making a Difference on Sabbath. Rabbi Winiarz is also a mohel and popular teacher. He got his first semicha from Rav Moshe Heineman and his second from Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim in Queens, New York. Rabbi Winiarz currently lives in Queens with his wife, Rebbe Miera, and their three children, Sarah Yehudis, Dovid, and Brach. There are so many things to do in Atlanta that it might overwhelm you! Where to start I’ve compiled a list of free things to do in Atlanta to add to our paid attractions. It makes me and my budget happier.
We started by getting our Atlanta CityPASS and choosing what we wanted to see first, such as the Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta. My kids love doing things with animals, so those always top the list.
I like to get a fun book for an area that has other attractions, like the Jimmy Carter Library and Legoland I mention below. It also gave discounts to local restaurants so we could try local food.
Malibu Wants To Ban Overnight Parking On Pacific Coast Highway. Will The State Allow It?
Centennial Olympic Park – There is a children’s park here called “The Fountain of the Ring”. There are also many free events throughout the year and many great picnic spots.
Right across the street from SkyView Atlanta, this way you can get free Groupon Bucks and get a free annual pass and free rides all year long, or just buy a family package once.
Marietta Fire Museum – See antique fire equipment and fire trucks, including an 1879 Silsbee Steamer. This is kids (and big kids) heaven.
Anne Frank Museum – Admission is free, but due to the nature of the Holocaust, admission is recommended for students in grades 5 and up. The exhibit features more than 500 images that tell the story of Anne Frank after her death during the Holocaust.

Audrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center – Over 2 miles of hiking trails and buildings and animal exhibits evoke rural Georgia in Heritage Village.
Fernbank Science Center – You can visit the museum for free, but all shows are at an additional cost. Exhibits often change, so every visit is different. The Atlanta CitiPASS is your ticket to all the extras at Fernbank!
Atlanta Farmers Markets – Browse the stands and meet new people. Talk to farmers and suppliers to really get to know the area and its people. You don’t have to buy, just see and talk to people!
Doge’s Palace – Visit the 24,000 square meter Doge’s Palace with its antique furniture. There are 18 more acres on this property. Learn about the building’s history from the 1780s to the 1820s.
Advice On Pve Gold Rathian Build?
Let’s imagine! – Free access on the second Tuesday of every month. This is a children’s museum with thousands of hands-on exhibits.
Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield National Park – 17 miles of trails and scenic hikes to the summit. Usually $5 per day, but NPS offers free days, so check their calendar. It’s also free if you have an NPS pass. Kids can also turn in their Junior Ranger badge for free.
Atlanta National Archives – History and genealogy in one place. This is a great place to trace your family history that you won’t find on Ancestry.com.
Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary – Free self-guided tour. This is a wildlife rehabilitation center so it is advisable to call before visiting.
Surah Al Anfal Ayat 39 (8:39 Quran) With Tafsir
Historic Oakland Cemetery – This 1850s cemetery is home to many of Atlanta’s founding fathers and prominent citizens, including Bobby Jones, Margaret Mitchell and Maynard Jackson.
In addition to ancient oaks and magnolias, you can also admire ornate tombstones, magnificent sculptures and architecture. So beautiful…if you get over your creepy side…
Carter Center – Free to wander and admire a circle of flags from all 50 states, rose garden, Japanese garden, and koi pond. There is a fee to visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, but the Carter Center area is free.
The Woodruff Park Reading Room is an outdoor reading room with book trolleys where you can read for free. There is also children’s reading at lunchtime.
Things You Can Do On Shabbos, For Kids
Underground Atlanta – This is hard for me to recommend. Incredible history, the original streets of Atlanta before Union soldiers burned it down. Lots of shop windows and a real gas lamp hit by a ball.
There are signs for self-guided tours. But unfortunately, this beautiful piece of history has become an unnecessary shopping center. Be safe and don’t go alone.
Piedmont Park – Relax at Splash Park
