Big Mountain Enduro

This is the shortest route on our list, but don’t let the distance fool you. Although there are no major changes, small changes in your gait can cause you a lot of trouble. Where East Fork Valley Creek gets really strong, there is a fall/fall, with grades sometimes reaching 50%. Short but intense, this route is more than a kilometer of good adrenaline

Speedy riders will enjoy a smooth ride on the Sunset Trail, a narrow trail that cuts through the mountains at a leisurely pace, with no easy switchbacks or crazy steep climbs. This route is quite remote, though it easily connects you to several other routes back to Telluride.

The village is a favorite among tourists as one of the few ‘easy’ hikes on our list. The trail runs from Mount Lawson to the San Miguel River Valley and back. At 14 miles, riders can enjoy the mountains without worrying about slippery trails. There are a few hills along the route, but nothing to break a sweat – really!

The gentle loop starts at the top of the gondola station and takes riders into town. The gondola runs from 7:00 am to sunset to bring down tourists who also enjoy the descent.

This difficult route has significant changes in elevation, rocks and sometimes bare feet, and difficult switchbacks, making it a great activity. The longest road on our list, Telluride to Durango is no joke! A long, challenging journey at high altitude, most travelers complete the journey in 3-4 days. This long hike offers everything from spectacular views of the Great Lakes to beautiful colors.

Short and sweet, Big Billy’s Trail is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon. This quant local trail begins south of Country Club Drive and passes through the Telluride neighborhood, just outside of downtown. Big Billy is a handy addition to other parts like Mido and Boomerang

Another easy walk through town, the Jurassic Trail is a great way to get to Big Billy’s Trail; It is twice as long but offers plenty of space and surface. The easy route climbs to the end of ‘Boomerang Valley to Flour Valley’ and follows the railway track for a good part of the road. The Jurassic Trail ends at the Adams Ranch Trail, which skirts the town of Telluride.

The Russell Trail is an easy, scenic trail out of town that starts at Adams Ranch Road and winds its way through the mountains, eventually joining the Long Boulevard Trail. This is a great trail for riders of all ages and experience levels

This hiking trail takes in two of the highest peaks between Silverton and Lake City. The route is 90% dirt road with many difficult sections requiring expert navigation. However, the ideas in this forum are worth the effort! This route is popular for jeeps and off-road vehicles and there are no food or water stops near the circuit, so plan accordingly.
