One of our top things to do in Aspen besides skiing! Aspen and Garmass both boast indoor and outdoor ice rinks during the winter season. There is an outdoor ice rink next to the CP Burger restaurant within walking distance of the Aspen Mountain Gondola, or if you want to ski indoors, visit the Aspen Ice Park or the Aspen Recreation Center. Garmass Base Village offers free ice skating in front of the Limelight Hotel, steps from the Elk Camp Gondola.
What better way to see the sights than from the gondolas at Aspen and Garmass Mountains. The drive is a truly unique experience that allows non-skiers to experience the beauty of the mountain as skiers and snowboarders do. There are mountain restaurants and bars with outdoor tables for viewing Aspen Mountains and Snowy Mountains after a gondola ride. You can also hike the trails at the top of Aspen Mountain for a panoramic view. Where To Stay, Ski, And Eat In Aspen This Winter: New Haunts And Local Favorites

Maroon Bells is a beautiful mountain range 10 km southwest of Aspen. If you’re visiting Aspen in the summer, this is a must-see in the area!
The Maroon Bells are known as the most photographed mountains in the United States. I don’t know if this is true or not, but it’s a landscape! Really cool! The stunning reflection of the mountains and the lake make the landscape a real picture.
Top 5 Reasons To Visit Aspen This Spring
The good thing about visiting Maroon Bells is that it is accessible to everyone. You don’t have to hike to see the best views; the best views can be found just a short walk from the parking lot. You can also check out the Lakeside Scenic Trail route, which has other great hikes in the area (see also Crater Lake information below).
Good to know: The trail to Maroon Bells is only open in the summer, from mid-May to early October. September is a great time to visit because of the lush green fall foliage around the lake!
Tip: Visit Maroon Bells in the morning. This is when the reflections are at their best and there are more opportunities to see wildlife in the area. Also, during the peak season, the road is closed to private vehicles from 8am to 5pm. So if you don’t want to travel, make sure you go well in advance. The Silver Queen Gondola is a must in Aspen! It offers direct access to the top of Aspen Mountain from downtown and offers some of the best mountain views in the area. In about 15 minutes you will reach Sundek at 11,200 feet (3,414 m). The views from the top are amazing!
Best Things To Do In Aspen In The Summer
In the winter, this is one of the main ski areas around Aspen. But you don’t have to take a gondola up the mountain and ski to enjoy the sights. In summer, you can admire the view from the gondola and from the top, as well as take a walk around the neighborhood.
The Sundeck Restaurant on the mountain is a great place to have lunch with a great view all around you!
Good to know: The Silver Queen Gondola is a family business. Dogs are also allowed. In summer, it runs daily from mid-June through Labor Day. Open every Monday, Saturday and Sunday in September and the first week of October. The winter season is from late November to mid-April.
